Planning for the transfer of wealth in accordance with your wishes is one of our primary services. We provide this service by understanding your intentions, reviewing your financial circumstances, utilizing the experience of counsel knowledgeable in the constantly changing federal and state tax laws and drafting the documents necessary to implement an estate plan. We design each estate plan to fit each individual's specific circumstances because every client has individual needs.
We are also involved in meeting your needs as they change throughout your life: creating trusts for minor children, grandchildren or others; preparing prenuptial agreements; and planning for incapacities.
Unless adequate steps are made in advance, it is often impossible to manage the assets and affairs of an incapacitated person without lengthy court proceedings and continuing court supervision. We generally recommend and prepare durable powers of attorney for the management of financial affairs, and living wills or health care proxies designating an individual to make medical decisions for the incapacitated person.
Estate Administration
We customarily represent the executor in the probate of our clients' Wills and the administration of their estate. This includes probate of the will, assisting in the valuation and collection of assets, and preparing estate documents for taxation authorities.
